With a Spanish influence and a Cork heart this bar is certainly a bar with a difference. Having been separated from its sister the An Brog bar in a redevelopment of the venue, BarBarossa has its own unique character and atmosphere.

The brief was to create a ‘thinking man’s snug bar, the sort of bar that you wouldn’t want to leave once you sat down, this was no mean feat but the AGA team rose to the challenge once again! The inspiration for the name BarBarossa came from a bar with the same name in the north of Spain that a few of the owners had grown to love and visit over the years.

Charming little snugs were formed, reclaimed seating re-upholstered, tables recycled and a selection of vintage and eccentric memorabilia that could have come from any of its well-traveled patrons.

The result is cosy yet honest, enthralling and charming. We have been told that it has a sort of a seductive appeal, we can live with that description.
