Audrey Gaffney Associates first worked with Cabra Castle Hotel back in 2009 when the team undertook the refurbishment to the Ballroom and its reception rooms. Designing a medieval panelled ceiling with fibre optic lighting and bespoke 4–metre tall doors opening into the other reception rooms while adhering to all fire regulations were just some of the changes taken on by the team. We created a Ballroom fit for any prince and his princess on their memorable day by ensuring that the medieval castle style was observed in every detail.
Since completion of the ballroom, the bedrooms and en-suites within the courtyard and the castle have been upgraded to sophisticated and opulent suites. A number of these have also been renovated to successfully tailor as family options. Each bedroom is unique with original features being enhanced like round towers turned into bathrooms with claw–foot baths, timber beams up–lit with soft lighting, and 4–poster beds introduced for that ultimate castle experience.
Our team also proudly refurbished The Courtroom Restaurant, The Derby Bar and Pappy’s Restaurant within the Castle. Rich colours adorn the wall while a new bespoke carpet has been laid, a hunting theme pattern was carefully selected for the curtain fabric. A unique bar has been designed with a medieval theme and the existing unused areas are now proud homes to comfortable snugs.
The ultimate unique place to stay.
The Cabra Castle Gate Lodge is located within the grounds of the hotel. The lodge itself was in much need of some ‘interior TLC’. A small arrangement of rooms made up the living space and didn’t lend itself to the fact that the lodge had been extended to 5 bed roomed lodge in recent years. Audrey Gaffney Associates worked with the client rearranging the living space and removing an oversized unneeded pantry to allow for a casual fixed seating area to be created within the kitchen. Two rooms were opened up into one to continue the flow of movement on the ground floor.
A new window seat was formed into an otherwise unused area of the sitting room, becoming the perfect spot for sipping wine while reading a book. Colours were chosen to create a casual soft interior feel within the lodge. The overall style is elegant and homely with furnishings classic yet comfortable for use. Putty greys are mixed with muted gold colours, and soft beige with soft lavender, zesty limes and earthy yellows creating the palette for a relaxing stopover. Your home away from home.
